Free from Yesterday, Freedom from Tomorrow

The sky reached down and touched his skin. He laid on the prickly grass, feeling the heat of the sun and the cool breeze of the wind. The azure sky stared at him. It was an aching sensation, chained down by what once was.

Sand scratched in between his toes. Uncomfortable, but it was a gentle reminder that the sea was close. He looked at the expansive ocean. It stretched on forever into the future.

The vacuum kissed his cheek. The harsh mistress was a violent lover and she dared not to let him go. Starlit fingers wrapped around his neck, ready for the final embrace. All he could do is look back at the blue world, remembering.
